Project | Cornish, Maine | August 2008
The latest phase of the Vaillancourt’s Renewable Energy Project has just been completed. A SunEarth solar hot water system was recently installed at their home in Cornish. It will provide all of the summertime domestic hot water needed for Dan and Jane and their twin girls. Dan was excited to report, “we all took showers yesterday with hot water heated only by the sun!” Their new solar hot water system will eliminate most, if not all, the propane they were using during the summer months. State and federal rebates available at the time of their installation allows for a quick payback on their system.
Dan & Jane are no strangers to the benefits of renewable energy. They’ve been heating their home with a Central Boiler outdoor wood furnace since 2002. “The Central Boiler is incredible, we love the even heat it provides. It works great and keeps the house toasty warm. Best of all – we aren’t using any propane!” Burning wood from their own property means the payback on their boiler was very quick – only 2 ½ years!
